The American Muslim Legal Ecosystem (AMLE) is a directory. It tells you who practices what, where, and in which languages. It does not tell you what to do about your situation.

Nothing on this website is legal advice. That includes listings, practice areas, legal topic pages, linked resources, and any reply you get from us by email. Only a lawyer who has reviewed the facts of your matter can advise you. General information about a subject can be wrong for your particular case, and laws differ by state and change over time.

AMLE is a joint project of CAIR-Chicago and the Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA). Neither organization becomes your lawyer by publishing this directory.

Using this site, filling in a form, or contacting a member you found here does not create an attorney-client relationship. Not with AMLE, not with CAIR-Chicago or MLFA, and not with the member you wrote to. That relationship begins only when a lawyer agrees to represent you, normally in a written engagement agreement.

Messages you send to AMLE through our contact form reach CAIR-Chicago staff rather than a lawyer, and they are not privileged.

Almost every legal matter has a deadline. Statutes of limitations, filing windows, appeal periods, and immigration response dates can be measured in days. Miss one and the right it protected is usually gone for good, however strong your case was.

Speak to a lawyer now if you have been served with papers, have a court or hearing date, are facing a removal or detention proceeding, or have received a letter with a deadline on it. Do not wait until you have finished comparing options on this site. Browsing a directory does not stop a clock.

Every attorney, law firm, and legal organization is reviewed before it is listed. At the time of listing we check three things.

• That the attorney holds an active license in the bar they list
• The publicly available disciplinary record from that bar
• That the practice areas, locations, and languages shown match what the member told us

That is the whole of it. We do not run criminal background checks. We do not audit case files or outcomes. We do not assess the quality of any member's work.

Inclusion in this directory is not an endorsement, a recommendation, or a guarantee of anything. Not of the quality of a member's work, not of their fees, not of how they will treat you, and not of the outcome of your case. No lawyer can guarantee an outcome, and past results do not predict future ones.

The order in which members appear is not a ranking. Nobody pays to be listed and nobody pays for placement. Our terms of use explain how listings are compiled.

Listed attorneys and organizations run their own practices. They are not employees, agents, or partners of CAIR-Chicago or MLFA. Neither organization supervises their work, sets their fees, or takes any share of what they charge.

Whatever you agree with a member is between you and them. That includes the scope of work, the fees, and the timeline. AMLE is not a party to that agreement and cannot enforce it, change it, or step into it.

This directory is provided as a free community service, as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, CAIR-Chicago and MLFA are not liable for the outcome of any matter, for the conduct, advice, fees, or availability of any listed member, for any error or omission in a listing, or for any decision you make in choosing counsel.
